About the qualification

The qualification is ideal for anyone looking to teach and train in the adult education sector. This includes understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training, understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training and understanding assessment in education and training.  

Nearly everybody teaching adults will be required to have this qualification, and those who are not required to have it will benefit from it. By becoming a qualified teacher/trainer, you’ll be able to teach in any area you choose.

£350 + vat

Bookings made by phone or email are provisional only. We must receive a completed booking form and 50% of the qualification fee before we will register any learner with the awarding body.

The remaining balance for the qualification will be invoiced eight weeks from enrolment.

Entry Requirements

Candidates must be a minimum of 19 years old with good reading and writing skills.

Assessment

There are three written assessments, and you will be supported by your assessor throughout.  

You will be required to plan and deliver a 15-minute classroom session called a ‘micro teach’ as well as observing teaching practice. You will learn how to use a lesson plan and deliver constructive feedback. 

The micro teach must be delivered in a teaching environment. The allocated trainer will visit you or the micro teach will be planned to be delivered at Prime Qualification where we have all the facilities within the classroom to support.

    Certificate in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (CAVA)
    About the qualification

    The primary outcome of this qualification is to prepare you to enter the specific sector of education and training as a vocational assessor. All the units in this qualification relate directly to the specific job role of vocational assessor.

    This is a practical-based qualification intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the work environment, and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace.

    This qualification includes units covering the principles and practices of assessment, assessing learners’ occupational competence in the work place and assessing vocational skills, and knowledge and understanding of education and training. 

    Prime qualification provide all resources. We do recommend a book to purchase but this is not compulsory as we provide the information required to complete your course.

    Entry requirements

    There are no formal entry requirements for the CAVA course. However, candidates must show evidence of occupational competence in the area they wish to be assessed in. Prime Qualification will carry out an initial assessment of learner skills and knowledge to identify any gaps and help plan the assessment. 

    Assessment

    Observations of assessing learners, evidence of standardisation meetings, CPD logs and an assignment to provide knowledge and understanding.  

    At least two learners that are currently working towards a qualification are required to be your case studies for the qualification. This is so you can assess the assignments and gather evidence of real assessments including question and answers, carry out professional discussions and observe them against standards.
